DNA-binding profile of a protein across all genes
This metagene profile shows where a particular DNA-binding protein localizes in relation to protein-coding sequences across the genome. The signal represents the average chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing (ChIP-seq) fragment depth per base pair of all genes. It reveals that the protein in question binds preferentially up- and downstream of genes, with a high peak just before the transcription start site. Besides ChIP-seq data, similar metagene profiles are also used to visualize other epigenetic data types, such as DNA methylation and histone modification signals.
